Watch: Orphan Black’s ‘Felix’ Responds To ‘I’d Be Offended By You If I Were Gay.’

Are you a fan of the series ”Orphan Black“? I am. Big time. The BBC America hit sci-fi drama/thriller stars Tatiana Maslany, who plays about a half-dozen characters (one of whom is a lesbian) who are all clones, and Jordan Gavaris, who plays “Felix.”

Felix is a great character and Gavaris plays him flawlessly. Felix has been described as (for lack of a better term) ”stereotypically gay,” and at Comic Con last year, Gavaris told the audience about an interaction he had with a reporter, who apparently said, “I’d be offended by you if I were gay.”

Watch — and listen — to Gavaris’ exceptionally brilliant response.

Exactly- we have to be secure enough to recognize and celebrate real diversity.

Sure there are people who will latch on to representations of queer folk that support their personal prejudices. And there are queer people who will latch on to representations of (insert your least-favourite category here) folk and deride them.

Very intelligent response. Good for him.
