Denying marriage equality hurts marriage. If you don’t let same sex couples marry, you end up creating other options: Domestic partners, civil unions, medical proxy, etc. Then you have different sex couples looking at those options instead of marriage. That is what “destroys” marriage. (there are some that consider that a good thing, while less people get “married”, perhaps more of the marriages work.)
