The Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has formally requested the Sergeant at Arms to “take action” against the 30 or so Republican members of Congress who illegally stormed a secure room where a Defense Department official was about to deliver testimony in an impeachment inquiry deposition.
Calling it “an urgent security matter” Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) describes the storming of the House Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) in the Capitol basement as an “unprecedented” and “blatant breach of security.”
“I am requesting you take action with respect to Members involved in the breach,” Chairman Thompson writes.
Thompson also says the storming of the SCIF “violates the Oath all Members of Congress sign to gain access to classified information.”
