Minnesota Anti-Gay Org: Gay Marriage Will Make Us ‘Bigots’ Under The Law
Minnesota For Marriage‘s latest video states that the legalization of same-sex marriage will classify them, and all anti-gay bigots, under the law, as “bigots.” The organization, closely tied to groups like NOM, the National Organization For Marriage, and hate groups, adds:
Legal experts on both sides predict conflict between same-sex marriage and religious liberty will work a “sea of change in American law†that will “reverberate across the legal and religious landscape.†Legal scholars predict “the volume of new litigation will be immense.â€
Of course, Minnesota for Marriage doesn’t name these “legal experts on both sides,” just identifies them as “Legal Scholars.” In caps. I, for one, would like to see Minnesota for Marriage prove their claims — which seemingly are often false.
Currently, same-sex marriage in Minnesota is leading by a strong margin.
Of course, The New Civil Rights Movement did a little digging, and found the book Kelly Yanta, the Minnesota for Marriage host, shows on screen: Same-Sex Marriage and Religious Liberty: Emerging Conflicts edited by Douglas Laycock.
Laycock, who has written extensively on so-called “religious liberty,” also testified in favor of the Religious Liberty Protection Act of 1998.
Laycock also appeared before the Supreme Court to defend the “right” of church members to sacrifice small animals as part of their religious observance.
The truth of the matter is that there has not been an “immense” “volume of new litigation” or a “sea of change in American law†that has reverberated “across the legal and religious landscape.â€
Just look at Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Iowa, Washington, D.C., New Hampshire, and New York for proof.
Will there be occasional lawsuits against those opposed to same-sex marriage, trying to discriminate based n their hatred of gay people? Yes, and rightly so.
